Description
The Linnut LED Battery Light was designed by Oiva Kalervo Toikka for the brand Magis.
Oiva Toika was born in Viipurin Maalaiskunta, then Finnish Vyborg, but now a part of Russia. The designer was inspired to design this collection by birds (Linnut means bird in Finnish), creating a four strong family of sculpture characters: Kirassi, Palturi, Sulo, and Siiri. Oiva Toikka has received many awards including the Lunning prize, Frank Design Prize, and Finnish States Award for Crafts and Design for his great designs.
The Linnut LED Battery Light sculpture has been in production since 1972. For 40 years, the sculpture was made by hand at the Nuutajärvi glass factory, and has remained a feature of the design scene ever since. The Linnut LED Battery Light is made of ABS and polycarbonate materials. The illuminant is a LED unit that comes included with the light, and the luminaire is compatible with bulbs of A++ and F energy classes. The lights are particularly charming thanks to their painted eyes and beak in the design. The Linnut LED Battery Light is rechargeable using a micro cable USB and a battery charger.
